Event Details

On Saturday, November 6, join Dr. Steve Owens, visitor guide for the California Trail Interpretive Center, to learn how to use Google Earth to explore the California Trail. You’ll get an overview of how to use the tools in Google Earth to track travel along the trail with emigrant diaries. Investigate Trails West T-Marker locations, use 3-D terrain features and photo layers to see the trail from the ground-level perspective, measure distances traveled, and look for clues about routes and trackways. You’ll also learn how to transfer your data from a computer to a mobile device for on-the-trail use. All ages are welcome, but this is a program geared toward adults and older students.
