The California Trail Center will present its annual holiday celebration, a Pioneer Christmas for Kids, on Dec. 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The celebration is free and open to everyone. Visitors are encouraged to bring non perishable food items to benefit F.I.S.H (Friends in Service Helping) and families of Elko County.

Are you searching for a fun activity for the whole family? Pioneer Christmas for Kids is quickly becoming an Elko holiday tradition. Join us to create ornaments, holiday decorations or a few gifts for the grandparents.

Activities include:

  • Design Christmas cards. Homemade Christmas cards add a thoughtful flare to gifts and thank you cards.

  • Braid a paper snowflake. Visit the snowflake station, and create your own colorful, braided paper snowflake.

  • Build reindeer ornaments. Transform a candy cane into an ornament with some antlers, googly eyes, and a bright red nose.

  • Create cardboard bird feeders. Make bird feeders to feed our feathered friends as the temperature drops.

  • Trace Silhouette Drawings. Trace and cut out a personalized piece of artwork.

  • Enjoy live Christmas music. 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.: Live holiday music in the California Trail Center’s lobby. Hot chocolate is available, provided by a Trail Center partner, the Southern Nevada Conservancy.
