Come and join BLM park ranger Gina at The California Trail Center for an adult power-point program and a pack your wagon booth/tabletop display in the South Fork Room. Immigrants who traveled the California Trail packed up their life belongings into covered wagons and traveled 2,000 miles to California. Visitors will learn what the early pioneers packed on their journey west. Visitors will be able to differentiate between items that were considered essential and non-essential in their wagons on their journey west. (Adults and children welcome) Activity: Following the presentation, a fun-filled arts and crafts activity for children will be offered titled “Make Your Own Wagon” An arts and craft activity for children will be offered of making their own paper wagons. The covered wagon, an iconic image of the westward migration, carried the supplies that were necessary and stood witness to the hardships and successes of life on the California Trail.
