Event Details

In the 1830s machine-made carpeting became widely available and people began to favor rugs and carpets on their floors. At the same time, the introduction of machine-made yard goods reduced the cost of materials and provided a source of leftover scraps and rags. Thrifty homemakers put these scraps to use by braiding them into small mats for the hearth and bedside. Join us at the California Trail Center on April 8th to learn how to make your own braided rug for your home.
